At BeatStars, we have been able to give creators from across the globe the ability to make music their full-time career.
Now, we're bringing you the Pay The Creators Podcast so we can share those incredible stories with you. We'll talk to producers, artists, and industry leaders who are shaking things up in the industry to learn how they got here, how they make a living from their music, and how they're changing the music industry for the better.
In the 1990s, Abe Batshon was an aspiring songwriter who realized he couldn't afford to purchase beats for the thousands of dollars they cost at the time. So, in 1996, he proposed a non-exclusive license to obtain a beat from a producer he met online-he could buy it for less than the normal price, but others could use it as well. That thought process became the genesis for something much greater.
Batshon put it all together. His time as a songwriter combined with his experience in the tech world, plus several years working in the music industry with rap stars like The Lox, Killer Mike, and Mac Miller, all melded, and he created BeatStars. Today he remains as involved as ever within all aspects of the business, community, and now podcast.
